The development of robots that can be used in the logistics and construction industries, as well as in the automation of light work, is gathering attention worldwide, and especially in some countries, research on humanoid robots is being accelerated due to advances in AI.
While researchers in generative AI and machine learning are seeking humanoid robots for research and development as bodies that can move in the real world, humanoid robots of a size that is easy to use in the laboratory are scarce and hard to find. RT detected that there is a demand for small bipedal robots.
Since its foundation, RT has developed and sold a large number of bipedal robots ranging from small (approx. 20 cm) to large (approx. 150 cm).
In response to the many requests that RT has received lately, the company has now started taking orders for Muriqui (read: Muriki), a 50 cm tall humanoid robot that is suitable for research and development, can walk stably and can be customized.
Muriqui supports ROS 2 as a development environment. The basic software is provided to make it easy to start development. A ROS 2 package is provided to run Muriqui on Gazebo as a simulator environment. Additionally it is scheduled to support the physics engine MuJoCo.
Based on experience gathered and knowledge in hardware design and development, RT has developed this new robot aware of the needs during the AI development processes, putting special emphasis on resistance to breakage.
In addition to the number of axes, sensors such as cameras and microphones, and even the body can be customized on request. Delivery time is approximately two (2) months.
